A study Scientific Reports magazine divided migraine -related odors into six groups and observed that cleaning products scents can significantly increase migraine attacks in chronic migraine patients. Work Classification of odors associated with migraine attacks a cross -sectional study.Picture Loan Fizkes Background Migraine is typically common neurological disease characterized by severe headache on one side of the head.Migraine prevalence in Japan is 8.4 %.It is known that factors such as stress, hunger, weather, sleep disorder, female hormones, light, sound, odor increase migraine attacks. Increased sensitivity to odor is considered a specific symptom of migraine which is frequently seen in 95 %of migraine patients. There is evidence that some odor species are particularly associated with migraine attacks. In mechanism, the odor signal is taken by the brain through the odor bulb, and research has shown that odors triggered migraine by activating different brain regions. In the current study, scientists categorized migraine -related odors and determined their relationship with clinical features. Work design The study was carried out on a total of 101 patients with clinical migraine. The participants were given a questionnaire consisting of 35 odor substances selected according to previous evidence. A questionnaire was used to determine which scents triggered migraine attacks and how the participants protect themselves from odors. In addition, scientists performed a factor analysis to determine common odor factors associated with migraine attacks.Factor analysis is a statistical method that reduces a larger set of variables to a smaller factor set by removing all common points from variables. IMPORTANT OBSERVES Approximately 16 %and 84 %of the study population were present with chronic and episodic migraine, respectively.Among the participants with chronic migraine, 75 %of the accompanying drug use was headache. In 78 %of the participants, a relationship was observed between odor and migraine attack. More than 50 %of the participants reported that the smell of perfume triggers the migraine attack. This was followed by tobacco, softening, corpses, garbage, hairdressing product, automobile and sweat scents.None of the participants reported the smell of lemon, tangerine or apple as migraine triggers. Apart from the 35 fragrance substances in the survey, the most commonly reported odors in relation to migraine attacks were the most frequently reported. In the study, common places associated with migraine attacks were determined in the study.More than 50 %of the participants reported the office as a common place for migraine attack. This was followed by home, restaurant and hospital waiting room.None of the participants defined the consultation or examination room as a place associated with migraine attack. Apart from the migraine -related places in the survey, the most frequently reported places associated with migraine attacks were trains, towns and stores. Approximately 42 %of the participants were wearing a mask, 23 %of them used air cleaner, and 22 %of them use deodorant spray. In addition, approximately 17 %of the participants reported that they left the place to prevent odors and closed their nose with handkerchiefs by 5 %and 5 %respectively. Considering the age of the participant, a significant migraine attack was observed among younger participants depending on the smell of tobacco or soap. When we look at gender, only female participants have been observed in a migraine attack due to body odor or garbage. Considering the migraine species, the participants with chronic migraine showed more sensitivity to softening, sweat, socks, coffee, stools, vomit and animal odors compared to those with episodic migraine. Based on factor analysis, six common factors of the odors were determined. The first factor was the smell of fetid; The second factor was cooking products; The third factor was oil derivatives and others; The fourth factor was shampoo and hair conditioner; The fifth factor was cleaning products; And the sixth factor was perfumes, insecticides and rose. The fifth factor, including flora -based hair styling preparations, laundry detergents and floral -scented fabric softeners, showed a significant higher relationship with migraine attacks in chronic migraine patients compared to episodic migraine patients. Importance of Working The study describes six odor substances that can trigger migraine attacks in patients with chronic or episodic migraine. However, chronic migraine patients may have a higher sensitivity to some flower -scented chemicals. Gotopnews.com
