MANILA, Philippines – The annual Cannes Film Festival is considered one of the most prestigious events in the motion picture industry, with a large number of veteran actors and filmmakers from around the world. At this year's event, several Filipino talents made their red carpet debut at the Cannes Film Festival, and some also attended press conferences and workshops. Kylie Verzosa Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa was a stunner with her Mark Bumgarner ensemble. The black ball gown was characterized by side cutouts, crystals and feathers. "The dream has come true," she wrote. "It is a great honor to walk on the opening night of the 76th Cannes Film Festival." In a separate post, Bumgarner said the overall outlook was created in less than two weeks. “I wanted it to be simple, classic and a little dramatic. This dress is embellished with feathers and crystals that go all the way to the hem, creating a halo-like effect.” Kylie also took a sweet route walking the red carpet in another Mark Bumgarner creation on day three of the festival. This time she wore a strapless, blush-colored dress embellished with crystals. The heart-neck and long-track suit was said to have a "mermaid-core" look. Kylie attended the premiere of Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire's Black Flies, starring Hollywood actor Sean Penn. Pia Wurtzbach Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach also made Cannes Film Festival 2023 her own track. She made her debut in a metallic red dress by Mark Bumgarner with a slit waist design that accentuated the beauty queen's sensual figure. Describing it as a "moment to remember", Pia shared that her first walk on the Cannes red carpet was like a scene from the movies. "Someone pinch me." She once again attracted attention with her black evening dress by Mark Bumgarner. He dropped the note "Fate is calling" on his post. Bella Padilla Meanwhile, actress Bela Padilla, who has recently turned to directing, shared her pleasure in attending press conferences and workshops in Cannes. “The education I received in Cannes is very valuable to me,” she said. “I would have laughed if, at the age of 16, I had told myself that I would be here today, talking to my fellow filmmakers about the right direction to follow and the changes we need to adapt to make life easier for the next generation. It's easy to stay within the mold, but as you know, I've always been a curious cat. And branching out is exciting for me. The actress-director later shared what it was like meeting other people from the filmmaking industry "I'm inspired to write again and now I want more." She continued "I've met cinematographers, distributors, directors, composers, female bosses, male bosses and the conversations were very inspiring." Enchong Dee Enchong Dee shared that attending Cannes is already one of her dreams and having the premiere of one of her films at the festival is just a bonus. Topakk, a Filipino action-thriller starring Arjo Atayde and Julia Montes, was one of seven films to have a grand premiere at the Marché du Film Fantastic Pavilion in Cannes. “Nakaka excited gumawa ng pelikula na maipapalabas mo sa mga banyaga.
